TASHKENT, April 8 (Xinhua) -- Uzbekistan's solar and wind power plants generated a total of 911.7 million kWh of electricity in March 2026, up 9.7 percent year on year, local media reported Wednesday.

The output represented an increase of 92.1 million kWh compared with the same period last year, according to data released by the Ministry of Energy.

Of the total renewable energy generation last month, solar power plants produced 569.4 million kWh, while wind power stations contributed 342.3 million kWh.

The growth in green energy generation helped reduce natural gas consumption by 243 million cubic meters and prevented the release of 524,000 tonnes of harmful emissions into the atmosphere.  ■
